Written history of the Rockhill neighborhood.
The university has its roots in the Lincoln and Lee University movement initiated by the Methodist Church's Bishop Ernest Lynn Waldorf in the 1920s.
Country Club Plaza, the nation’s first comprehensively planned, automobile-oriented, regional shopping center.
Prior to the creation of Theis Park and the lengthening of the Nelson lawn, homes on 47th Terrace and Pierce St. extended all the way west to meet Oak St (bottom of the picture above).
With the development of Theis Park, Brush Creek Blvd was combined with 47th Street (now Cleaver Blvd.) to create one divided roadway leading west into the plaza.
June 3rd: Half Marathon, 10K and 5K runs with almost 5,000 participates.
June 10th parade finished down Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. to end at the festival in Theis Park. Estimated attendance: 50,000.
July 23th event closed Cleaver Blvd from 2 to 9pm.
Oct. 15th, 2022" Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K runs: over 5,000 participates.
