The History of Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. More than just a St

Prior to the creation of Theis Park and the lengthening of the Nelson lawn, homes on 47th Terrace and Pierce St. extended all the way west to meet Oak St (bottom of the picture above). 

1952 mapped area of Rockhill Rd. 47th St. and Brush Creek Blvd.

With the development of Theis Park, Brush Creek Blvd was combined with 47th Street (now Cleaver Blvd.) to create one divided roadway leading west into the plaza.

June 10th parade finished down Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd.  to end at the festival in Theis Park. Estimated attendance:  50,000.
